Connemara Marble is Ireland's most famous stone. Dating from the Pre-Cambrian era it is over 600 million years old. Metamorphic in nature it formed when limestone was heated under pressure, producing a hard green rock. It is only found in a remote area in the west of Ireland. Its varying tones of green symbolize Ireland and it is said to bring serenity, luck and happiness.
